SMS marketing for event promoters

Promoters live and die by the last 72 hours before a show. Email gets buried, social reach rises and falls with the algorithm, and the people most likely to buy a ticket are the ones who already asked to hear from you. Encore Text gives promoters a direct, permission-based text channel to that crowd, with the compliance checks built in so a busy on-sale week never turns into a carrier problem.

Why text works for ticketed events

Text messages are read on the phone people carry into the venue. For promoters, that makes SMS the natural channel for anything time-sensitive: a presale window that opens at noon, a set-time change, a weather update or the last 50 tickets at the current price tier.

Because every contact on your list chose to receive your texts, a short message with a clear link usually does more than a long post. The goal is not to text often. It is to text at the moments that matter, to the people who care about that specific show.

What you can send

  • Presale codes and on-sale reminders for list members.
  • Lineup announcements and set-time drops.
  • Door times, entry rules and parking or transit notes on show day.
  • Last-call messages when a ticket tier is about to change.
  • Post-show thank-yous with the date of the next event.

Every campaign shows the number of recipients, the number of segments and the total cost before you send, so you know what a blast will cost before it goes out.

Segment by city, genre and past attendance

A fan who came to your techno night in Toronto does not need the hip-hop show in Atlanta. Tag contacts by city, genre, venue or event, then build segments that combine those tags. Area codes are mapped to a region and time zone automatically, which keeps city targeting simple and quiet hours accurate.

Two-way messaging lands in a shared inbox, so if a fan replies with a question about accessibility or guest list, someone on your team can answer from the same number.

Compliance that keeps up with on-sale week

Encore Text records how and when each contact agreed to receive texts, honors STOP replies immediately across every campaign and holds messages that would arrive overnight until 8 AM in the recipient's own time zone. Owners and admins approve campaigns before they go out, and each one gets a review for brand name, opt-out language and risky content.

Your workspace gets its own dedicated toll-free number, included with your plan with no setup fees. We handle carrier verification for you; it usually takes 3–10 business days, and sending opens once it is approved.

Pricing for promoters

Plans start at $25 a month for Starter ($19 a month billed annually) and $50 a month for Professional ($39 a month billed annually). Messages are paid from prepaid credits: 1.5¢ per SMS segment in the US, 2.5¢ in Canada and 4¢ per MMS picture message, with a $10 minimum top-up.

Spend caps stop a mistyped segment from draining your balance, and auto-recharge can top up credits so a presale message is never stuck waiting on a payment.

Getting started

Pick a plan, create your account and tell us about your brand. While your toll-free number is being verified, import your consented contacts from a CSV, tag them, and draft your first campaign. If you collect sign-ups at the door or on a ticketing page, make sure the form explains what people will receive and how to opt out. Our guide on building a list with consent walks through the wording.

Frequently asked questions

Can I text everyone who bought a ticket?
Only if they agreed to receive marketing texts from you. A ticket purchase alone is usually not consent for marketing messages. Add a clear, optional SMS opt-in to your checkout or sign-up form.
How fast do messages go out?
Campaigns are sent as quickly as carrier throughput for your toll-free number allows. Recipients in overnight hours receive the message at 8 AM their local time.
Can fans reply?
Yes. Replies arrive in a shared inbox where your team can answer one-to-one. STOP, HELP and similar keywords are handled automatically.
Do I need my own number?
Every workspace gets its own dedicated toll-free number, included with the plan. You do not need to bring or buy one.
